You don’t have imposter syndrome, you’re facing systemic bias.

Here’s how to navigate it effectively in tech…

When you are continuously looked at as if you don’t belong in a room - of course you’re going to feel like you don’t belong! When little comments are made like “Good morning boys” or “Well done lads” even though you are clearly stood there - of course you’re not going to feel welcome. In tech, there are so many of these moments that happen regularly on multiple levels. Each one of them adding silently, subtly to the overall feeling that you shouldn’t be there. That your voice doesn’t matter. That you are not good enough to be in the room.

I’m here to remind you that your voice really does matter - even more now than ever. Especially with AI growing so rapidly. We need your voices as women of all backgrounds. We need to be teaching AI about diverse ways of thinking and multiple experiences - otherwise the systemic bias we are facing now, will only be amplified.

First, we need to recognise that we don’t have a ‘syndrome.’ There is nothing wrong with us. We are just operating and working in a world that wasn’t built for us to thrive in.

We need to remember how incredible we are. We are amazing and have incredible levels of intuitive insights that is built into who we naturally are. This is stuff that cannot even be taught. As women, we innately are in tune with even deeper insights that is sometimes hard to express or explain.

The thing missing is when we work in a world that is not made to help our intuition thrive. It’s easy for us to forget our natural abilities.

So here’s what we can do to help ourselves…

  1. Spend time noticing your intuition more

  2. Create dates with yourself to nurture your feminine energy

  3. Remember who you used to be, before you got into tech
